Tropical houseplant care requirements
To keep your tropical plants happy and healthy, you'll need to focus on a few key things.
Sunlight for tropical plants
Not all tropical houseplants need direct sunlight, but they do thrive with bright, indirect light. Make sure your plants get enough light to fuel their growth through photosynthesis.
High temperatures and humidity
Tropical plants love warmth and humidity. Keep them in a warmer spot in your home, and if possible, boost the humidity to create an ideal environment.
Watering tropical plants
Regular watering is essential, but be careful not to overdo it. Too much water can lead to root rot. Use a moisture meter or check the soil by hand before watering to make sure it's time.
Keep the environment consistent
- Soil Moisture: Keep the soil consistently moist, but not soggy.
- Fertilizing: Feed your plant every couple of weeks to give it a nutrient boost.
- Pruning: Trim off any brown leaves or stems using clean, sharp scissors to keep your plant looking its best.
- Repotting: Refresh the soil and give your plant more room by repotting it at least once a year or when it outgrows its pot.
